Lighting
Interior & Exterior Lighting
Recessed lighting, fixtures, dimmers and exterior or security lighting, aimed at how the room is actually used.
How this work is approached
Good lighting is planned around the room: where people sit and work, how much light lands on a surface, and which switch you want to reach for when you walk in. The same fixture placed differently can be the difference between a bright room and a comfortable one.
Layouts are marked out before cutting begins, so the cut pattern is decided on the ceiling or wall rather than discovered afterwards. Dimmers are matched to the fixtures so they run smoothly instead of buzzing or flickering.
What this covers
- Recessed (can) lighting layout and installation
- Interior fixture installation and replacement
- Dimmer and switch upgrades, including multi-way and smart switches
- Under-cabinet and accent lighting
- Exterior, porch, garage and entry lighting
- Landscape and security lighting, with timers or photocells
- Motion sensors and switching for outdoor or utility areas
Good to know
- Ceiling construction matters: attic access makes recessed lighting straightforward, while a finished ceiling with no access needs a different approach. Photos of the space help.
- Existing dimmers and older fixtures are checked for compatibility before new fixtures are hung.
