Panels, Breakers & Service Upgrades

Panel replacements, subpanels, breaker work and service capacity that matches what the building actually uses.

How this work is approached

The panel is the one place where every circuit in the building meets, so it is also where capacity problems, double-tapped breakers and tired hardware show up first. When circuits are added one at a time over decades, a panel can end up full without anyone deciding that.

Panel and service work is quoted after a look at the existing service: the main size, the age and condition of the bus and breakers, how the grounding and bonding are done, and what the utility feed can support. If a full replacement is not necessary, that is worth knowing too.

What this covers

  • Panel replacement and upgrades, including converting old fuse boxes
  • Breaker replacement and correcting double-tapped or oversized breakers
  • Subpanel installation for garages, shops, outbuildings and additions
  • Service upgrades where the existing feed no longer keeps up
  • Grounding and bonding corrections
  • Circuit labelling and panel schedules that make sense
  • Adding space for new circuits when every slot is occupied

Good to know

  • Panel work usually means a scheduled power interruption. The plan and the window are agreed before the day, so fridge and freezer contents, home offices and business hours can be worked around.
  • Anything involving the utility feed or meter is coordinated with the utility; lead time for that part is outside the electrician's control.
  • Existing panels seen during an inspection are reported honestly: what needs attention now, what can wait, and what is simply not a problem.
